The long wait is over for JackJumpers fans, with Milton Doyle agreeing to return to the JackJumpers on a two year deal.
Doyle was a revelation during his debut season with Tasmania last year, averaging 17.1 points, 3.7 assists and 5.3 rebounds and earning All NBL first team honours.
He was the JackJumpers number one priority in the off-season, with the club in talks with Doyle’s agent on a return to Tasmania.
Following his stint with the JackJumpers Doyle joined Turkish super league mid-season, helping the lowly ranked Tofas climb the ladder and qualify for the playoffs. In a team featuring Brady Manek (Perth Wildcats) and Tyler Ennis (ex NBA) he was a ball handler and outside threat where he averaged 13.8 points, 40% from outside, 4.8 rebounds and 2.8 assists across his 10 games.
The news of Doyles return will of relief of many Tasmanian basketball fans, who have endured a somewhat underwhelming off-season so far. After missing out on key free agents William McDowell White, Tanner Krebs and exciting young local product Taran Armstrong, they also saw key pieces of the team in Sam McDaniel, Isaac White and Matt Kenyon sign elsewhere this off season.
But the signing of Doyle early in the off season period allows the club to find complimentary imports to play alongside their star guard. The JackJumpers plan to attend NBA summer league next month with the idea of landing an import point guard and forward centre, but have yet to rule out last year imports Josh Magette and Rashard Kelly from a return to the Nest
