The JackJumpers have added further depth to thier squad to start of the upcoming NBL season, signing veteran centre Majok Majok as a short-term nominated injury replacement player (NRP) contract.
Under NBL rules an NRP is eligible to train full-time with the club for the duration of their contract, but can only be elevated to the main roster and suit up for games if another player is injured.
The addition of an NRP will cover a number of anticipated absences the JackJumpers are anticipating to begin the season. Centre Will Magnay is working his way back from a leg injury he sustained while playing in Spain in June. The addition of Marcus Lee will play a big part in covering cover this loss, an additional centre in Majok will provide further depth to the squad.
The team is also managing the potential absence of new recruits Junior Madut and Majok Deng across thier pre season, as both are part of the extended squad of South Sudan ahead of the FIBA World Cup. If they make the final squad they’ll take part South Sudan’s warm up games in Melbourne against Australia, Venezuela and Brazil from 14 August, before their opening World Cup game on 26 August against Puero Rico in Manila, Phillipines.
The addition of the 6’9″ Majok provides size and experience, having played 185 NBL games across seven seasons for Melbourne, New Zealand and Perth, and is a two-time NBL champion.

He’s most recently finished his NBL off season with the North Gold Coast, where he averaged 12.3 points and 11.7 rebounds per game. including 11 double-doubles. In his previous NBL season with the Perth Widcats, Majok averaged 2.4 points and 2.2 rebounds while limited to just over 7 minutes per game.
