Welcome to the Green Ant Rant, an independent website that provides an alternate voice of news and commentary for Tasmania’s NBL team, the JackJumpers.
We must stress we have no direct affiliation with the JackJumpers or the NBL, we’re a site that is keen to talk hoops with the fans, focus on the good and the bad of Tasmania’s new basketball team debuting in the 2021/22 season.
We are long term basketball tassie hoops fans, going through the frustrating years supporting the Devils, who many times flirted the dreams of playing finals, but still provided magic on the court from Carfino, Hurst, Stanley, McDaniel, Talford, Whiteside, Scott, Nash, Stiff, Stewart and many others over the years at Kingborough and the DEC.
We appreciate the Launceston City Casino NBL side who many years earlier shocked the NBL by winning championship in 1981 in their second season, and the Devonport Warriors who played in the NBL’s 1983 and 1984 seasons.
We also follow our other Tassie basketball teams playing in leagues outside of the NBL, the Hobart Chargers (Hornets/Huskies), North West Tasmania Thunder (Originals/Brewers), Launceston Tigers and Southern Huskies. All of which have played their part over the years to the formation of the JackJumpers.
